The making of a story
A handful of broken dishes,
Discarded fabric scrap,
Some straw, some wire, some paper,
Sound very much like crap.
But a beautiful scene can unfold its folds,
And a magical story can soon be told,
When vision and passion are lovingly poured,
And some glue the whole thing holds. #aphotoaday #art #stories #mixedmediaart #mycreations #nostalgia #home #visionsofhome #yesteryears #simplepleasures #simplertimes #motivationalquotes #inspirationalquotes #quoteoftheday #writers

And the cherished tradition lives on
One of the most beloved Lebanese traditions is the weekend sobhiyeh (in reference to morning)-the almost sacred morning family get together around a fresh pot of coffee or nescafé and whatever sweets are available around the house. When I was a young child, the task of making the coffee for the sobhiyeh was my dad's. He arranged 5 coffee cups and saucers on the rectangular colorful plexi tray and proudly carried it to the balcony or the family room where my mom, my two younge

Words unspoken
His eyes spoke of sorrow and pain, his face of an arduous journey... Sometimes the story of an entire lifetime is told without a single word... .

Beirut escapades
Another of my cherished discovery escapades through the streets of Beirut. Passing through a heavily populated low middle class neighborhood, hoping for a treasured sight to capture with my camera but not finding it. I had almost given up when, finally!! An old weathered traditional home, shyly tucked between two tall characterless buildings. On its wall was a notice of imminent demolition. At its door sat a little lady, as old as the walls behind her. I greeted her. True to

Beit Beirut's balconies
Remnants of balconies that once stood there. Looking at them now, bravely hanging from the restored Beit Beirut building*, one can sense the glory of their early days, may be even imagine some of the stories they witnessed. I can vividly picture the small talk of two friends leisurely sharing a fresh pot of coffee, before getting to the more serious business of foretelling each other's future from the coffee marks, the blossoming teenager throwing furtive glances at the objec

Lemon and chili peppers
Lemon and green chili peppers strings caught my eye today as I walked around Old Delhi. They were a common fixture on doorways. Turns out these strings are akin to the blue bead in Lebanon and surrounding countries. They are believed to chase away the evil eye-specifically in this case, that of Alakshmi, sister of Lakshmi, Hindu goddess of fortune. Alakshmi likes sour and hot foods..The lemon and chilies on the string are her first victim. Her hunger satisfied, she leaves bef
