"The Music of Strangers"

"If the screen went dark during “The Music of Strangers,” that would be a disappointment. But if the sound failed, that would be a tragedy." Ken Jaworowki, NY Times, June 9, 2016.

I second this sentiment wholeheartedly... Watching "The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble" was absolutely uplifting and inspirational. A beautiful medley of sounds and images brought to life by a superbly talented group of individuals from different cultures and backgrounds, one does not want it to end.

The union of powerful music, images and thoughts delivers a captivating message of unity, humanity and hope. In a tumultuous world facing more and more divisions and seeing more and more walls built every day, the movie is a vibrant reminder of the similarities we share as human beings of different backgrounds and the beauty and strength we can achieve when we come together, with all that makes us who we are, to celebrate our humanity and our lives. It demonstrates to us how we can coexist and commingle in harmony with others of different colors and creeds while staying true to ourselves, our roots and our culture. It teaches us a powerful lesson in cross-cultural acceptance and understanding, so we can leave a better world for our children.

It brought my heart home. Absolutely loved it!

Do watch The Music of Strangers if you get a chance. The Silk Road Ensemble is also performing live in music halls across America, a performance no doubt well worth watching, hopefully very soon.
