Visions of yesteryears. A mere set of old tiles to most. To me, visions of a beloved place from a beloved past. I used to go visit her with my mom. An attractive, elegant and soft mannered lady. Many years my mom's senior, the expression "aging gracefully" was probably coined for her. I will never forget the home's spacious, brightly lit central living room. I remember the huge three-arcade windows on both ends, overlooking a lush garden of aromatic jasmine shrubs, orange trees, and rose bushes that bloomed around an octagonal stone fountain--a rare oasis in the bustling concrete-packed city. Lining the other two sides of the living room were two long rows of bedroom doors. Large sparkling crystal chandeliers adorned the very high ceiling and overlooked beautiful antique furnishings, persian carpets, and intricate tiles just like those in the photo. I can still vividly picture the beautiful collections of small ceramic figurines, boxes, dolls, and other knick knacks she picked up from God knows where and displayed with much love and care.
