"A common local Lebanese expression is "Khallas 3elmo"--literally, he finished his learning, typically used when students achieve the college education they were seeking. And indeed, true to the expression, people often grow dangerously confident that "they know it all." But as I endeavored to "khallis 3elmeh," the more I learned, the more I realized how little I knew. This world with its physical and abstract components are incredibly complex. The lessons in books are equaled if not surpassed by the endless lessons from life ifself. The more plains and seas we cross, valleys we descend into and mountains we climb, the more shoes we step into, hats we wear, shades, flavors and textures we encounter, the more riches and truths open up to us. Wise they are, the perpetual students of life, as not only do they enrich their lives with knowledge, but they secure a better grade at life's complex pop quizzes and tests that are sure to come."
